The Faculty of Science and Technology is a component of the Claude Bernard Lyon 1 University and brings together all the players (teacher-researchers, researchers, administrative and technical staff, students) around a training and research project in science and technology at the University; its activity is mainly focused on the Lyon Tech La Doua campus, which opens onto the city of Villeurbanne and the metropolis of Lyon.
Created in 2007, the Fédération de Recherche André Marie Ampère (FRAMA) brings together research activities in physics and astrophysics at the Lyon site. Comprising six research units, the Institut Lumière Matière (ILM), the Laboratoire de Physique de l'Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon (LPENSL), the Institut de Physique Nucléaire de Lyon (IPNL), the Laboratoire des Matériaux Avancés (LMA), The Centre de Recherche Astrophysique de Lyon (CRAL) and the Institut des Nanotechnologies de Lyon (INL) are a CNRS Research Federation (FR3127) with Claude Bernard Lyon University1, the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon, the Ecole Centrale de Lyon and the INSA as co-tutors. Its partner laboratories have more than 550 employees, including about 400 permanent staff (teacher-researchers, researchers, and research support staff), 110 doctoral students and 35 post-doctoral fellows.
The National Centre for Scientific Research is a public research body (a public scientific and technological institution under the supervision of the Ministry of National Education, Higher Education and Research). It produces knowledge and puts it at the service of society.
Société Française de Physique Société Française de Physique
Founded in 1873, the Société Française de Physique is a recognized public utility association whose mission is to develop and promote physics in France, by associating the physicists of our country with its action. It creates a link between physicists and offers them different means of action. The actors and members of SFP are volunteers, researchers, professors and physics laboratories, all sharing a common passion for physics and its promotion within society.

The research conducted at the iLM is both fundamental and applied. The staff of the iLM carry out numerous collaborations with internationally renowned research laboratories and companies. Interactions with laboratories and research institutes are carried out through joint projects such as ANR, ERC or international programmes, but also within research groups (GRD) and thematic networks. Ecole Doctorale PHAST Ecole Doctorale PHAST
Créée en 1991, l'École Doctorale de Physique et Astrophysique de Lyon dépend du collège doctoral de l'Université de Lyon, collège qui rassemble les 17 écoles doctorales des établissements d'enseignement supérieur de la région lyonnaise. Elle dispose d'un potentiel d'encadrement doctoral particulièrement important avec 170 chercheurs et enseignants-chercheurs habilités à diriger des recherche et répartis dans six laboratoires (CRAL, iLM, IPNL, LGL, LMA, LPENSL) de deux établissements (Université Lyon 1 et École Normale Supérieure de Lyon). Elle accueille environ 50 nouveaux doctorants chaque année. Les champs disciplinaires d’excellence de ces unités comprennent l’astrophysique, la physique subatomique, l’optique et les lasers, les matériaux pour l’optique et l’optoélectronique, les nanosciences et nanomatériaux, la physique non-linéaire, la géophysique et les interfaces physique-santé et physique-biologie, la géologie et les planètes. L'objectif de l'École Doctorale de Physique est d'offrir aux doctorants une formation de qualité à la recherche au cours de leurs trois années de thèse et de les accompagner dans leur projet professionnel (milieu académique ou secteur privé).
